We provide commissary, cafeteria, and various other services to the American employees of the Embassy. General Manager Job Purpose: Responsible for the operations, revenues
and profits of a non-profit organization that delivers services to American
Embassy Bangkok staff to include restaurants, a convenience store and various
concessionaire activities. Develops,
business plans with marketing and financial goals. Provides appealing restaurant services,
maintains a grocery & liquor venue and supervises staff. The General
Manager reports directly to the Chairperson and elected board officers.
General Manager Main Duties:
·
Establishes restaurant business plan by
surveying restaurant demand, seeking community input and identifying and
evaluating competitors. Prepares financial, marketing, and sales projections,
analyses, and estimates.
Meets all financial objectives by developing
financial plans; maintaining banking relationships, preparing strategic and
annual forecasts and budgets, analyzing
·
variances, initiating corrective actions,
establishing and monitoring financial controls, and developing and implementing
strategies to increase average meal checks.

Attracts and
maintains patrons by developing and implementing marketing, advertising,
public and community relations programs.
Evaluates program results; identifies and tracks changing demands.
Controls purchases and inventory by meeting with
procurement and account manager; negotiating prices
·
and contracts; developing preferred supplier
lists; reviewing and evaluating usage reports and analyzing variances.

Maintains operations by preparing policies and
standard operating procedures; implementing production, productivity, quality,
and patron-service standards; determining and implementing system improvements.
Manages human resources by recruiting,
selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching,
·
counseling, and disciplining management staff;
communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing
job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing
policies and procedures. Also makes
recommendations to the Board regarding personnel actions.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy facility
environment by establishing, following, and enforcing
·
sanitation standards and procedures; complying
with health and legal regulations.

Skills/Qualifications:
·
Management Proficiency - Previous managerial
experience and/or prior experience leading employees.
Managing Profitability - Prior experience in
controlling and managing inventory, knowledge of international
·
shipping, and a familiarity with American
consumer products and western menu planning
·
Communication and Customer Focus -Ability to
communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and basic Thai
conversation
·
Cost Accounting, Developing Budgets, Financial
Planning and Strategy, Decision Making, Process Improvement, and Strategic
Planning Prior experience managing financial accounts and conducting audits
·
Bachelors degree in a related field
·
5 years of experience in a restaurant or
hospitality service related industry
·
3 years of experience in retail operations/management
